How we support children’s health and general well-being:

At Park Hill Junior School, we are committed to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement. All children go through ups and downs during their school career and some face significant life events

The School takes the personal development and well-being of children very seriously. We know that children are unlikely to flourish unless they are developing positive relationships, feel safe and are adopting healthy life styles.  Please see our Well-being Policy for an explanation of how we promote emotional wellbeing and respond to mental health needs.

We provide expert help for any child who is experiencing any difficulties with behaviour or relationships from well-trained staff, including:

Onsite School Counsellor

Four days per week

On-site therapeutic support for the emotional and personal development of children and families.

Home/School Link 

Full-time

Supports families and signposts them to other services/agencies/charities who can offer practical support and/or advice 

 We provide specialist support and up-to-date training for staff on child protection and other aspects of safeguarding, including protecting children from neglect and emotional harm.

All of our staff and governors hold an up-to-date DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) at the necessary level.

Our Head Teacher, Mrs Pratt, has ultimate responsibility for Health and Safety concerns across the School.
